It's been a long while since I have posted anything here and I am feeling very guilty about handing out business cards with this blogs address on it without updating it regularly, so here goes.
I have been working on a whole new range of tiaras in recycled copper, which are below. They take quite a lot of work but the effect is well worth it. They will be on display at the Scottish Wedding Show at Ingliston on the 8Th and 9Th of February. This is my first wedding fair and as it's one of the biggest in Scotland, with an expected 4000 visitors, I need to make a good impression.
After so many attempts I have now managed to upload this to YouTube, maybe I'm not such a computer idiot lol

Aren't People wonderful!!!
Well after a lot of uncertainty the Art Exhibition is on it way. I posted an advert with the local art college, for a volunteer and exhibitors, and I have had a great response. The offers of help have been fantastic and boy am I greatful, first meeting is on Tuesday night and I hope we can get the whole thing underway by the end of October. This is really exciting and I am, for the first time, really looking forward to working on this. Initially I felt as if I was "on my own" but it looks like I am going to have as much help as I need.
This is going to be be a success if it kills me!!!!!

Charity Arts Exhibition
Why do I do this to myself. I have agreed to organise a charity arts exhibition to be housed at my husbands pub in Edinburgh, and it is turning into a monster. It looks like it will be well advertised and promoted with help from the charities but I am finding it hard to co-ordinate the artists, purchasing etc.
Hopefully by next week I will be inundated by artists wanting to take part then it's onwards and upwards. I intend to blog the whole process once everything is fianlised wish me luck!!!!!

Two commissions, hopefully the first of many
I have just finished these two pieces and I must admit although I enjoyed making them I will be so glad when they go to their new homes
This is a wire wrapped amber necklace for my husbands boss who is giving it to a friend. I made the chain from scratch and boy did it take a long time, I was adjusting a filing until my head hurt!!It is being delivered tomorrow so fingers crossed she likes it.

This is a tiara made from recycled copper. It needs some adjustment as well as crystal detail at all the solder joints, final polishing and a coat of varnish. I don't usually coat any of my pieces but this is an exception, we have agreed that the bright and shiny finish is what is need on the brides big day. The bride has already seen it and is over the moon.

Saying goodbye
Today has been rather bitter sweet. Last year I met a lovely family who were in Edinburgh due to the father's work, we became good friends and have met up regularly. They all leave tomorrow to return home to California and I feel really sad to see them go, our children have become great friends too so the kids are a bit down. I feel I have made friends for life and know it will be hard not having them just up the road. The mum and I have found out very early that we both love making jewellery and have had some great chats swapping ideas. I wish them all the best and we are planning to visit in 2010. 2009 is already spoken for as we have arrange to visit our dear dear friends who moved to Barcelona, should I be worried that everyone I get friendly with seems to want to move to another country lol!!!?
