Finished Recycled copper tiara

Yesterday my first recycled copper tiara went to its new owner, she tried it on with her weeding dress and it looked great.

Here are a few pictures of the finished tiara with crystal accent.

some of my stuff

As I have no intention of creating a website in the near future and I have had numerous requests for pictures of my work I will post them here. Please remember I am far better at making jewellery than I am at taking pitures!!

Two commissions, hopefully the first of many

I have just finished these two pieces and I must admit although I enjoyed making them I will be so glad when they go to their new homes

This is a wire wrapped amber necklace for my husbands boss who is giving it to a friend. I made the chain from scratch and boy did it take a long time, I was adjusting a filing until my head hurt!!It is being delivered tomorrow so fingers crossed she likes it.

This is a tiara made from recycled copper. It needs some adjustment as well as crystal detail at all the solder joints, final polishing and a coat of varnish. I don't usually coat any of my pieces but this is an exception, we have agreed that the bright and shiny finish is what is need on the brides big day. The bride has already seen it and is over the moon.

Saying goodbye

Today has been rather bitter sweet. Last year I met a lovely family who were in Edinburgh due to the father's work, we became good friends and have met up regularly. They all leave tomorrow to return home to California and I feel really sad to see them go, our children have become great friends too so the kids are a bit down. I feel I have made friends for life and know it will be hard not having them just up the road. The mum and I have found out very early that we both love making jewellery and have had some great chats swapping ideas. I wish them all the best and we are planning to visit in 2010. 2009 is already spoken for as we have arrange to visit our dear dear friends who moved to Barcelona, should I be worried that everyone I get friendly with seems to want to move to another country lol!!!?

One down

Within the next few days my work will be available for sale at Rosie McKenzie Art in Edinburgh. Rosie is one of the nicest people I have ever met and has a real passion for art, and she has some wonderful artist exibiting at her gallery. I am so pleased that she asked me to submit my work, it has been a real moral booster. Her website is listed in my web links.

Just have to get the next lot completed and delivered and I can heave a big sigh of relief

Onwards and upwards

Have had a really hectic few days but am catching my breath before I get back to the grind. The fair I had a stall at on Saturday was reasonably successful but I have been reliably informed by regular stallholders that the first week is always the quietest, here's hoping!

The two gallery ranges are just about finished and one will going to it's new home tomorrow and the other the following day then the next few days will be spent finishing off the 6!! commissions I have. I am making a recycled copper tiara and three sets of wedding jewellery so I don't think I will be seeing anything apart from my bench until Friday. I really love what I do but I really really need to learn to say no sometimes.

On a positive note my belief in Karma has been reinforced. I was planning to join a few other artists in stocking a stall for the four weeks of the Edinburgh Festival but, due to family circumstances I had to back out. I am thankful that I did I would never have been able to do this as well as everything else, and I have been able to concentrate on my own work and promoting it. Everything happens for a reason.
